Dion Marlow
Dion was raised on Rock’n’Roll, growing up in a musical household shaped by his father, Kev Marlow, who has been performing on the scene for over 35 years. Inspired at the age of six after seeing The Jets live on stage, Dion picked up the double bass — and he hasn’t looked back since taking influence from fellow double bass players such as Jimmy Sutton, Bob Cotton, Jarrod Coombes and Martyn Savage. As a result of the influences, hard work and practice, he has been able to perform 600+ shows across the UK & Europe.
Over the years, Dion has shared the stage with leading names in the scene, including The Jive Aces, Marco Di Maggio, The Keytones, The Jets, and Wildfire Willie, as well as members of Ray Collins’ Hot Club, Boogie Banausen. He’s also enjoyed memorable jams with the likes of Darrel Higham, Laurie London, The Stargazers, Phil Haley & His Comments and The Spunyboys. Beyond Rockin'em, Dion has appeared in promotional trailers and performed as part of the national theatre production "Lipstick On Your Collar".
To date, Dion has had the privilege of performing at prestigious venues including London's famous 100 Club and the Shaw Theatre, as well as working for Warner Hotels on multiple occasions. In addition to his enthusiasm for music, Dion plays a vital role in managing the band's bookings and logistics and work as the band's sound engineer, with his passion for both in live and studio sound
Alongside his work with Rockin'em, Dion has provided sound engineering services for respected artists including The Jive Aces, Ray Gelato & The Giants, Restless, and Laura B and Her Band. He has also assisted with sound production at London's world-famous Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club.
Dion's musical abilities extend beyond the double bass with skills on the guitar, drums, and piano, all of which can be heard on Rockin'em recordings.
